Job Summary
The Assistant Director of Counseling Services supports the Director in overseeing daily clinical operations and ensuring the delivery of accessible, high-quality, and culturally responsive mental health services. This role includes providing direct clinical care, supervising staff and interns, and contributing to strategic planning and policy development. The Assistant Director also promotes campus wellness through outreach, collaboration, and participation in university initiatives.
Duties
- Provides individual counseling, crisis intervention, and group therapy. Oversees daily clinical operations, including intake assignments and timely clinical documentation. Maintains a flexible schedule to meet student needs while upholding ethical and professional standards.
- Supervises the interns and support staff. Conducts mid-term and final evaluations for the interns, while upholding ethical and professional standards.
- Approves payroll and time-off requests, audits clinical documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system, generates weekly data reports, and facilitates team meetings.
- Serves as acting lead in the Director’s absence, ensuring service continuity. Manages, delegates responsibilities, and adjusts appointments as needed. Assists with policy development and performance evaluations to enhance service quality.

Qualifications
Required Education:
- Master's degree in counseling or a related field
Required Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years of related job experience
- Experience with electronic health record systems for maintaining clinical documentation and data reporting
License/Certification
- Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Supervision Certification per specific licensing board
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with interviewing/supervising
